Biography

With a Belgian mother, a Swiss father, and a multicultural home, Lanik grew up surrounded by a vibrant mix of languages and traditions. Family vacations to France and Belgium were filled with French chansons—Edith Piaf, Joe Dassin and Alain Souchon were the voices of her childhood, later joined by Patricia Kaas and Zaz.

Guided by boundless curiosity, Lanik explored a wide spectrum of genres, from pop to jazz, chanson, blues, and soul. Her passion for cultural discovery led her to West Africa, where three years of immersion introduced her to a new depth of rhythmic freedom and broadened her artistic voice.

In 2019, she embarked on her solo career, culminating in the release of her debut album "Little Girls" two years later. The record featured thirteen original compositions sung in three languages—an artistic challenge reminiscent of Stephan Eicher’s multilingual explorations.

Lanik combines the storytelling of Chanson Francaise with the elements of jazz, pop and rhythm. She captivates with a versatile voice: at times warm and gentle, at others powerful and clear. She doesn’t just perform—she draws listeners into her world, creating a space of intimacy and emotion.

Currently, she is training with Grammy-nominated percussionist Tupac Mantilla, an experience that has reignited her passion for rhythm and continues to inspire her evolution. Constantly reinventing herself, Lanik embraces change as an essential part of her artistry, never confined by past work.
